In the humdrum of life.
We often asked for the world to stop.
To give us a breather.
To enable us to cope.
Unbeknown to us
What lay ahead.
Too many days lost
Just lying in bed.
Our freedom banished.
Taken away.
The future uncertain.
Where our lives lay.
A disease so deadly.
Ruled us all.
No scent, taste or smell.
Any one of us could fall.
Face masks and keeping our distance
Became the new "Norm."
To keep us safe.
Protect us from harm.
If we ever return
To what we had before.
Will we be grateful
For evermore?
No more wishing
Our lives away.
Just enjoying and savouring
Each new day.
Loving our families
Like never before.
Standing neighbour to neighbour.
At every door.
Being thankful
For all that we own.
For community that's bonded.
So we're never alone.
A time in History.
Never to forget.
When the world stopped.
And all was reset.
