I’ve heard so many tales of sorrow about this terrible Lockdoon,
And it got me thinking that things aren’t so bad here in the Bonnet Toun
We have a butcher and a bakers and a couple of grocery stores
A post office and two chemists, who could ask for any more?
The marvellous Torchlight procession and sombre Remembrance Day Parade,
and every 3rd Saturday in June, we have our great annual Gala Day.
But because we are in lockdown it looks like we were beat,
Cause we canny have our Gala Day out there in the street.
The Bonnet Guild members were scunnered and backed into a corner,
But have risen to the challenge with the President Tom Horner
With lots of Zoom calls, tonnes of emails and planning a plenty,
Your Gala Day comes to you this year, care of the 21st century.
There’s a virtual sports challenge and an online art exhibition,
There’s virtual fancy dress too, so please make your submission.
The Walking Treasure Hunt will get you out, and if you’re passing Avenue Square,
appreciate the banner that shows
