Who wants to play the Blame Game?
No thanks, I'd rather not.
No matter where the faults lie,
This is what we've got.
I blame you and you blame me
But the mess is still right here,
So why not help to fix it?
You don't want to? That's my fear!
When Covid-19 started
'Twas the far side of the world
But, soon, it spread and arrived here
And the Blame Game flags unfurled.
Let us blame the Chinese, then,
After all, it started there
And soon it came, we did not know
How soon we' d get our share.
Now, everybody's worried
And anxious, even scared -
We don't know who's life it will take,
Nor yet who will be spared.
But it's all in human nature
The need to find someone to blame
But, tell me, what's the point of that?
We're all in it, just the same!
We can all be wise with hindsight -
Who started it, when and where,
But paramount in all of this
Are those who need our care.
Do not blame the other man,
Point the finger of blame,
Let's furl that flag of blame again
And act as though we're sane!
We're now searching for a vaccine
And taking lots of tests
We're now the leaders in this fight -
Let's show we are the best!
Let us no longer point the finger
Or accuse, apportion blame,
For it will gain us nothing -
We're still in it, just the same.
We need to find the answers
That will lead us to a cure,
So we can banish death and suffering
To make our futures assured.
We were slow to act on this,
Far too slow, some thought our pace,
But think about Tortoise and Hare
And which one won that race!
In the meantime, keep your distance,
Stay safe at home, indoors,
You don't know who's life will be next -
Just make sure it's not yours!
